Can you inherit a dream?

Anna had a dream. She dreamed of owning her own fabric and sewing supplies shop. Anna and her husband saved every penny, even washing with laundry soap, doing everything they could to bring the dream closer. And Anna made her dream come true. During Latvia's first independence, she opened her fabric and sewing supplies shop in Jaunjelgava, near the Daugava River. She crafted skirt suits and dresses that perfectly matched her hats and shoes.

Then times changed. The foreign government took everything away—her shop was nationalized. The compensation was barely enough to cover the price of a doorknob. Her husband never recovered from the loss. As she left her shop, Anna managed to take a few rolls of fabric and spools of thread. Those supplies saw her through the war. She sewed and mended clothes in exchange for food.

Anna had a daughter, Dzintra. When Dzintra grew up, she also took up sewing. She made clothes for herself, her children, and her neighbors—even wedding dresses.

We are apples from the same tree. Anna is our grandmother and great-grandmother. Dzintra—our mother and grandmother.

Today, we've both come to realize that this "clothing thing" has always been in our blood. But life took us in different directions. They say every person has two lives: the second begins when you realize you only have one. And that's how Anna’s dream became ours—a dream passed down to a third generation.

And so, the idea of the ETANNA clothing brand was born. Delicate fabrics, magnificent outfits. In Latin, "et" means "and," so ETANNA means "And ANNA." Sanita, a mother of two boys, always wanted a daughter named Anna, in honor of her grandmother. Though she doesn't have a daughter, she has ETANNA—a third child in both of our families.

And here we are. Two women who CREATE and MAKE. Two women with a spark in their eyes. Two mothers, wives, and entrepreneurs. It’s often said that a person is happiest when they are creating—when they are in the flow and in sync with life and themselves. We can both attest to that.

ETANNA stands for unique, handcrafted clothes created by us. We choose only high-quality fabrics that we ourselves would wear.

With our clothes, we aim to remind women that femininity and elegance come from within. Some of our pieces are designed to be wearable during pregnancy and breastfeeding, because "elegant, beautiful, and easy" is for everyone—mothers, daughters, and grandmothers alike.

Get to know ETANNA. Choose us for celebrations and for daily life. Choose an ETANNA piece as a gift for yourself or for others. And remember, we want to make people happy. Share your feedback and tell others about us!
